The unit comprises the ultrasonic transmitter and receiver circuitry and autoranging power supply, along with high speed digitizer and multichannel optical and potentiometer encoder interfaces.
The full suite of software applications including TOFD, true BScan imaging and CScan modules are supplied as standard with the unit.
Standard flaw detector A-Scan presentation and controls simplify training requirements and operation for experienced UT operators, with softre controlled amplifier and filter controls, interface triggering along with up to 2 gates with independent flank and peak triggering for traditional thicknesslflaw evaluation and B-Scan image colour palette options.
For the BScan and TOFD applications images are acquired in a bidirectional single probe axis which can be encoded or free running, measurement options for defect length and height, parabolic cursors to aid in defect length measurement and SAFT processing for dimensionally correct defect viewing are also included.
The TOFD software also includes options for lateral and back- wall straightening along with lateral/backwall removal routines.
Further, full replay of image A-Scans along with the ability to optimize signal gates off-line allow internal defect analysis and thickness profiling to be undertaken and validated post inspection.
A range of multiplexer options are also available for multichannel applications.
The system can be used with encoded manual and motorized probe systems, as well as third party manual and automated scanners.
